The groundnut is otherwise known as peanut and is scientifically called Arachis hypogaea. Though termed as a nut these are not nuts but legumes which are rich sources of protein.
They also have high oil content and contain various vitamins and minerals in abundant. Peanut is a major ingredient in the preparation of various nutty chocolates and peanut butter. Apart from edible purposes they are also used in soap and cosmetic manufacturing.
